About Me
Maya Castellanos
Language and Avian Nomenclature Enthusiast
I've spent the last decade combining two of my deepest passions: languages and birds. What started as casual birdwatching in my backyard evolved into a genuine curiosity about why birds are named the way they are—from the lyrical Latin taxonomies to the quirky common names that vary wildly by region. I speak five languages and love discovering how different cultures call the same bird, and I keep a pair of rescue parrots, Cisco and Ember, who've taught me more about avian personality than any book could. My mission is making the fascinating world of bird nomenclature accessible to everyone, whether you're naming a pet, learning a language, or just satisfying late-night trivia curiosity.
